Katy McSurdy

Business Development Writer, Utility Services

 
Katy McSurdy is based out of Nexant's Berwyn, PA office. For the past 3 years, she has served Business Development as a project manager and writer, primarily working on proposals. Katy works with subject matter experts to craft winning proposals that are focused on the client's needs and questions. She also edits Nexant reports, maintains proposal content databases, and coordinates with Marketing to create collateral and graphics that represent Nexant's services. Katy is an active member of the Association of Energy Services Professionals. She previously worked in academic publishing for Wolters Kluwer and Taylor & Francis in Philadelphia and has over 12 years of experience in writing and editing. 
 
Her work as a freelancer and poet has been published in Apiary, Philadelphia Stories, Summerset ReviewLevelerGrid Magazine, Ursinus Magazine, Broadkill Review, Blood Lotus, Mastodon Dentist, and the Pennsylvania Gazette, among others. She was the recipient of the Dolman Prize for Creative Writing and the Lantern Poetry Prize. Katy has studied under Philadelphia Poets Leonard Gontarek and Alison Hicks, and interned with horror writer Jonathan Maberry. She graduated from Ursinus College with a BA magna cum laude in Writing and Environmental Studies. She was the Founding Director of the Ursinus Organic Garden (now Farm) and has led sustainability efforts at multiple offices and restaurants in the past decade.
